Today, passenger transport means of new types are running along the streets in the capital city of Pyongyang.
They are associated with the painstaking efforts of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to solve the traffic problem in the city.
One August evening in Juche 107 (2018), there took place a trial run of a prototype tramcar and trolley bus in the presence of Kim Jong Un.
After overseeing the trial run of the tramcar, he made his way to the trolley bus.
It was manufactured by our workers, true to the instruction of Kim Jong Un. When he saw it in January that year, he stressed the need to update some of its fittings for the convenience of people and further improve its technical specifications.
Aboard the trolley bus, he sat on a seat to be taken by the people, personally estimating its technical specifications and other details.
He said in the following vein: The internal environment and the quality and modernity of the fittings have been improved and noise and vibration lessened as against the previous ride. All the technical specifications pass muster. It would be wonderful and people would be happy to see the homemade tramcars and trolley buses running along the streets.
Expressing great satisfaction over the trial run of the new vehicles, he gave great trust in the officials and workers of the passenger transport sector in the capital city that they would produce more and better prototype trolley buses and tramcars so that they run along the streets in the capital city, carrying the citizens filled with merry laughter and cheers for socialism.
At the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in January 2021, he set forth a task to produce a larger number of public transport means, including new-type subway trains, trolley buses, tramcars and buses, to promote people’s conveniences.
Even when he was busy presiding over the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee, he unfolded a far-reaching plan to take a decisive measure for the improved public transportation for Pyongyang citizens and discussed detailed issues concerning the development of the traffic system in the capital city.
In March Juche 110 (2021), he watched the trial products of a passenger bus and double-decker developed by our workers at the office building of the Party Central Committee. He said passenger buses that are suitable to city landscaping and convenient for the people to use should be mass-produced, stressing that the Party would actively support it. And he indicated the yearly production goal to this end.
At present, the passenger transport sector in the capital city is making redoubled efforts to produce more and better means of public transport to ensure that the streets resound with the people’s laughter of happiness.
