A party and government delegation of the People’s Republic of China headed by Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the PRC, visited the Friendship Tower on April 12.

The delegation is on an official goodwill visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to mark the “year of DPRK-China friendship.”

The delegation was accompanied by Mun Song Hyok, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Pak Myong Ho, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yajun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and his embassy members.

Members of a guard of honour of the Korean People’s Army lined up at the tower.

The national anthems of the PRC and the DPRK were played.

A flower basket in the name of the party and government delegation of the PRC was laid before the tower.

The ribbon of the flower basket read “The martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers will be immortal.”

The participants paid silent tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the CPV.

Being briefed on the tower, the members of the delegation looked round it, the symbol of the DPRK-China friendship forged in blood.

Zhao Leji wrote in the visitors’ book: “Recollecting history, remembering forerunners, defending peace and carrying forward friendship.”
