Devotion to the Arboretum of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun

The Kumsusan Palace of the Sun is the place where the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the eternal leaders of the Korean people, are laid in state. The arboretum around the Palace is thick woods formed thanks to the warm loyalty of the people ardently longing for them.

Jo Yong Hui, worker of the Pyongyang Underground Shop, says:

“I wanted to do something, though a little, to wonderfully build the area of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are laid in state.”

Kim Mu Song, boy of the Chongryu Junior Secondary School, Taedonggang District, Pyongyang, says:

“I wish to tell the great Generalissimos who loved us most that I have got five marks in lessons and also show them beautiful flowers growing in the plot my brother and I cultivate.”

Jo Yong Hui often goes to far-off localities every year to get good species of trees. She carefully plants hundreds of trees in the arboretum of the Palace.

Kim Mu Song, together with his younger brother Mu Gwang, has planted many trees in the arboretum of the Palace every year since his primary school days. And they often go there to remove weeds and cultivate the plot registered in their brothers’ name as a beautiful flower garden. Not only they, but all other people across the country from capital Pyongyang to mountain counties in the northernmost tip show their sincerity to the arboretum. Among them are workers living in the northern frontier areas far from the capital Pyongyang, farmers in the western coast granaries, and famous scientists, educators, soldiers and school youth and children. Scientists of the Botanical Research Institute of the Biological Branch of the State Academy of Sciences have conducted consistent researches to acclimatize precious trees sent by prominent foreigners to the climatic conditions and physiographic features of Korea. As a result, thousands of trees of dozens of kinds sent by foreigners are growing in the arboretum.

The devotion of the Korean people to the arboretum of the Palace is rooted in their ardent longing for the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. The great Generalissimos were the kindhearted fathers of the people who devoted their all to the people, regarding them as their God. Everywhere they went, they met people without ceremony and took warm care of them with paternal love. At homes of ordinary workers they opened lids of rice cookers and discussed how to improve their life. They had modern foodstuff factories, livestock and poultry bases built in different parts of the country to provide the people with greater benefits. They who loved the children most took measures to build many children´s palaces and camps in the best places on the highest level, saying there were nothing to spare for the children. So all the Korean people and school youth and children across the country devote their sincerity to the arboretum of the Palace with ardent longing for the great Generalissimos. The people more ardently wish to hold the great Generalissimos forever in the thick-wooded arboretum lost in all kinds of fragrant flowers.
