Unha Pedigree Fish Breeding Station.

The Unha Pedigree Fish Breeding Station, located in Pothonggang District, Pyongyang, was established in September 1987. It engages in supplying breeding fishes of various species to fish farming units across the country.

It comprises an indoor breeding fishpond covering over 1 000 square metres, outdoor fishpond covering more than 5 000 square metres, feed processing workshop and protein-rich insect cultivation ground.

The integrated control room automatically controls all conditions necessary for the growing of fishes by monitoring on a real-time basis the water quality, temperature and oxygen content in fishponds.

The protein-rich insect cultivation ground produces natural feed and Pispea spreopiopes, which account for 75 per cent of the total feed of the station.

The station has introduced a closed water circulation system, which makes it possible to gain big profits with less amount of water and prevent environmental pollution.

It has put its production lines on a scientific and intensive basis.

Last year it bred millions of fry and breeding fishes, including catfish, loach and carp, and sent them to fish farms across the country.
