Another content of the standpoint and attitude towards the world centering on man is the attitude of approaching the change and development of the world focusing on man’s activities.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il said.

“Approaching the world by focusing on man means dealing with the change and development of the world mainly on the basis of the activity of man who transforms it.”

This means to focus on the creative ability of man in the cognition and transformation of the world and to solve all problems by enlisting the creative ability of man.

It seems necessary to tell a story to help your understanding before going to logic explanation.

It happened in August 1968 when General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to Hungnam Fertilizer Factory.

In the 7-Year Plan period, the factory officials tried to implement the instruction of President
Kim Il Sung in easy way of water electrolysis without considering electricity situation instead of enhancing the capacity of the process of anthracite gasification.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il came to know this fact and asked how then they would produce ammonia by gasifying anthracite that had been set forth by President Kim Il Sung. And he said that they must do so by all means once the President said to attain the goal of the 7-Year Plan by enhancing the capacity of anthracite gasification.

The factory officials reported that they calculated time and again the technical index and equipment but failed to find out the way out.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il thought the solution is to mobilize the strength of the workers and went over to the furnace where the workers work.

Talking with them, he asked if they can attain the goal of production of ammonia. He further explained that gasification of anthracite is Korea’s Juche industry that was set up by the President and that to do so in high level is glorious struggle to add glory to the Juche idea of the President and said that they should have correct understanding of this.

Highly inspired by this, the working class made their pledge before the General Secretary to gasify anthracite in a high level as instructed by the President.

After all, they successfully produced ammonia through the gasification of anthracite that had been regarded as difficult task, with their high political zeal and creative wisdom.

This is good example of the standpoint and attitude of approaching the change and development of the world focusing on man’s activities.

What, then, are the contents of this standpoint and attitude?

President Kim Il Sung said.

“… in all the activities to transform nature and society the first process must be to train man to be a more powerful being, and all problems arising in the revolution and construction must be solved by increasing man’s creative role.”

The first process must be to train man to be a more powerful being in all activities to transform nature and society. This is the requirement to approach the transformation and development of the world with man’s activities as main one.

It is very complicated and arduous work to cognize and transform the world.

Here it is important to pay attention to what to start with and where to give primary significance.

Man is a master in cognitive and practical activities.

It is man who demands cognition and transformation and who makes and uses all conditions necessary for cognition and practice.

The width, depth and success of the cognitive and practical activities depend on man, its master. All activities of man cannot be made beyond his preparedness. Man makes cognitive and practical activities in conformity with his preparedness.

Therefore, we should pay primary significance to train man, its master to be more powerful being in all activities of cognizing and transforming the nature and society and consider it as the first process.

In 1975, the 11-year compulsory education that had started experimentally three years ago was enforced on a nationwide scale

While studying the preparation of a new school year the General Secretary came to know that three primary school pupils in Jamae island off Nampho sea come to the land to study.

An official said that although they study far off from their parents they study merrily in the care of the villagers there. But the General Secretary asked to build a school in the island for them.

The school for three pupils–this is unprecedented in human history of education. Listening to this, the official admired his warm love for the people, and said that they would finish their course in a few years.

At this, the General Secretary advised him, saying that he would set a school even for a year or two.

In his warm care, a school was built in the lighthouse island in a short span and a woman teacher was sent there to start a new school year.

Indeed, this was unprecedented in history of any other country.

On 31 August, 1998, the DPRK produced and launched artificial satellite “Kwangmyongsong No. 1” to the outer space with her own technique, raw material and efforts.

Her reality that advances towards the powerful nation tells that when the primary attention is paid to training man into powerful beings, marvelous successes can be scored in the cognition, practice, revolution and construction.

In order to approach the change and development of the world focusing on man’s activities, it is first necessary to put stress on bringing man into more powerful being, and secondly to solve all problems in the method of enhancing man’s creative role.

Man plays decisive role in cognizing and transforming the world. Along with man, various material means participate in and play big role in the cognition and transformation of the world.

For instance, scientific research work to discover the secret of nature requires measure apparatus, electric and electronic apparatus. And nature-remaking project requires trucks, excavators, bulldozers, dredging machine, computers, robots, etc. and with the development of man’s cognitive and transforming activities, these material and technical means play bigger role. But this does not mean that material and technical means play bigger role than man does in cognizing and transforming the world.

Without man, any technical equipment, however developed, cannot do anything.

Computers that calculate so huge amount of calculations man can not do with pencil and paper for a life is mere a piece of iron. It is man who made such a computer.

Some people say as if humanity is faced with “crisis”, thinking that man became slave of information equipment when modern information technical means replace not only physical but mental labour of man. What is the use of those things if they make man fool and bring about crisis to humanity?

The development of science and technology and modern technical means implies the development of man’s creative ability to conquer nature.

In order to cognize and transform the world, man makes and uses necessary material and technical means. The role of modern material and technical means is decided by and serves man’s role. It is therefore necessary to solve everything in the cognition and transformation of the world in the way of enhancing man’s role.

In order to enhance his role, it is necessary to inform him of the task and give priority to political work to mobilize his strength so that he becomes active with creative zeal and initiatives. It is also important to make effective and rational use of man’s creative ability, taking into full consideration of the characteristics of the target, the state of the material and technical means and the conditions.

Only then, is it possible to score biggest success in the cognition and transformation of the world and in shaping man’s destiny in the way of enhancing his creative role.

The Juche viewpoint and standpoint that centers on man’s activities are powerful weapon that accelerates the cognition and transformation of the world at a high speed by enlisting man’s creative ability.
