Sports Village in Chongchun Street of Pyongyang

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) — In Mangyongdae area of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there is the Chongchun Street sports village, a comprehensive sports and cultural center with gymnasiums for scores of sports events like basketball, table tennis and swimming and public service facilities.

The sports village is associated with the guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Visiting the village in March Juche 102 (2013), he initiated the remodeling of it, which had contributed to the country’s sports development and to the exchange in sports with other countries, as required by the new century.

Going round various gymnasiums, he gave instructions concerning the remodeling of the sports village, including the issues for ensuring the soundproofing and proper temperature in halls and lounges and furnishing the gymnasiums with all necessary equipment. And at the restaurant for sportspersons, he learnt about what kinds of dishes they like and indicated the ways for improving the supply service, saying that nothing should be spared for them.

Touring Sosan Hotel, he referred to various issues arising in operating and managing the gymnasiums and sports facilities on a normal basis after remodeling the village.

And he stressed that to remodel the sports village is an important work for glorifying the feats of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and for bringing about a radical turn in the country’s sports.

True to his field instructions, the builders completely changed the looks of the sports village within a year.

Mosaic “The great leaders Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il present at the ceremony for the completion of Chongchun Street” and a monument to their revolutionary activities were erected in December 2013 and the Sportspersons’ Lodging Quarters equipped with modern welfare service facilities was built at the village in August 2019. -0-
