Political Bureau of WPK Central Committee Meets for Session

A meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea took place on April 11 at the office building of the WPK Central Committee.
Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, took part in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
Upon authorization of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.
The meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee decided the following agenda items:
1. On taking more thorough state measures for protecting the lives and safety of our people from the worldwide epidemic
2. On the implementation of the state budget for Juche 108 (2019) and the state budget for Juche 109 (2020)
3. On personnel affairs to be presented to the Third Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly
4. On organizational matter.
The first agenda item was discussed.
A report on the first agenda item was made.
All the people across the country are bringing about the priceless achievements in economic construction and major construction projects through a dynamic struggle towards the 75th founding anniversary of the Party, in hearty response to the decisions of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Seventh Central Committee of the WPK.
But, the virus epidemic that broke out at the end of last year has rapidly expanded worldwide causing a catastrophic disaster to the humanity, crossing the borders and continents. The reality shows that it has become impossible to remove the danger of the virus infection in a short period of time, and such an environment can create some obstacles to our struggle and progress.
The DPRK took strict A-class emergency anti-epidemic measures from the outset and established thoroughgoing organization, consistency and compulsoriness in the nationwide protective measures. As a result, it has maintained a very stable anti-epidemic situation.
The meeting called for consistently taking strict national countermeasures to thoroughly check the inroads of the virus to cope with the steady widespread of the pandemic.
It studied and discussed matters of adjusting and changing some policy tasks in the work of implementing the decisions of the above-said plenary meeting, in view of the prevailing internal and external circumstances.
It adopted the joint resolution of the WPK Central Committee, the DPRK State Affairs Commission and the DPRK Cabinet “On taking national measures more thoroughly for protecting the lives and safety of our people from the worldwide epidemic”.
The joint resolution details the goals of continuously intensifying the nationwide emergency anti-epidemic services and pushing ahead with economic construction, building up the national defence capability and stabilizing the people’s livelihood this year, and indicated the tasks facing all sectors and all units, including Party and government organs and working people’s organizations and armed forces organs and ways for carrying them out.
The meeting studied and approved the second agenda item “On the implementation of the state budget for Juche 108 (2019) and the state budget for Juche 109 (2020)” to be presented to the Third Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly.
It examined and approved the third agenda item “On the personnel affairs to be presented to the Third Session of the 14th SPA”.
It discussed the fourth agenda item of organizational affairs.
The meeting also held a by-election of member and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
Park Jong Chon was elected as member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
Ri Son Gwon and Kim Yo Jong were elected as alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
The meeting recalled and held a by-election of members and alternate members of the WPK Central Committee.
Ri Thae Il, Ri Son Gwon, Jon Hak Chol and Kim Chol were elected as members of the WPK Central Committee from alternate members and Pak Myong Sun was elected as member of the WPK Central Committee from member of the Central Auditing Commission of the WPK.
Kim Jong Nam, Ri Song Hak, Jon Myong Sik, Sin Chang Il, Jang Yong Rok and Kim Sun Chol were elected as alternate members of the WPK Central Committee.
The meeting recalled and held a by-election of a member of the Central Auditing Commission of the WPK.
Pak Yong Jin was elected as member of the Central Auditing Commission of the WPK.
The meeting recalled and held a by-election of members of the Inspection Commission of the WPK Central Committee.
Ri Kyong Chol and Won Hyong Gil were elected as members of the Inspection Commission of the WPK Central Committee.
The Supreme Leader stressed that the fierce flame of making revolution should be flared up for the Party organizations at all levels, senior officials and Party members to implement to the letter the policy lines of the WPK Central Committee with greater consciousness and strenuous efforts in line with the joint resolution of the meeting which advanced new and important policies and tasks.
The politburo meeting held under the guidance of Kim Jong Un constitutes an important occasion in dynamically opening a broad avenue of the Korean-style socialism, as it set forth the realistic tasks for timely and correctly resolving the important issues arising in the Korean revolution at present.
