People’s Leader

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is a people’s leader who devotes his all for their wellbeing, giving the highest and absolute priority to ensuring their dignity and rights and interests.

For him, the people are the masters of the revolution and construction and the beings who must be held in the greatest respect. He formulated the essence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the guiding ideology of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as the people-first principle, advanced the people-first politics as the main socialist political mode and put forward the slogan “Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!” as the fundamental principle and mode of the Party and the state in their activities.

He advances all lines and policies with the people’s ideals and aspiration as the absolute criterion and administers all policies on the principle of prioritizing their interests and convenience.

He did not hesitate to make inspection tours of dangerous frontline posts and construction sites, if it were for the people’s happiness and wellbeing, and always emphasized that commanding officers exist for the sake of soldiers and officials for the good of people during his field guidance trips.

The source of all miracles is not the outcome of mysterious power of divine intervention but the inexhaustible strength of the people and there is nothing impossible to do when one relies on it—this is his political creed. Whenever he is faced with colossal tasks or difficulties, he first goes among the people and has heart-to-heart talks with them and works out plans for overcoming the difficult situation. The people regard his trust as the most precious thing and support his leadership with a single mind. Today, the single-hearted unity between the leader and the people has been further consolidated and eye-opening achievements are being created one after another. Credit for this goes to his view on the people.

He considers himself to be a servant who should make devoted, selfless efforts for the good of people, rather than a leader, and finds his pleasure in making painstaking efforts for their wellbeing.

He frequently said to officials as follows:

Do people like it? Their convenience must be over all other things. You should have many calls from them. Nothing should be spared for their good. Let us provide them with the best things in any case.

One day, he saw photos of people who were so happy after receiving fish provided by the state. That day, he said to the officials as follows: We work hard overcoming difficulties cheerfully to relish such delight and to be carried away by the feeling of happiness that fills my hearts in a moment.

And he wrote his autograph that called on them to set themselves the goal of bringing earlier the day when the people would lead such an affluent, happy life every day and make redoubled efforts in the spirit of devotedly serving them.

Thanks to the leadership of Kim Jong Un, a large number of structures for the people have been built in the DPRK in recent years. He makes painstaking efforts for them, always stressing that not a slightest defect should be allowed in the work for their sake and that the people, who are the best in the world, must be provided with the best things.

He makes sure that the Party Central Committee goes first before others among the people when they feel painful, in order to take warm care of them and help those in difficulties, sharing weal and woe with them.

In August Juche 109 (2020), several areas in South Hwanghae Province were hit by a typhoon.

At the 17th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th WPK Central Committee, he underscored the need to take immediate measures to prevent damage from typhoon. Then, he made his way to the typhoon-stricken area before others and took measures for recovering the typhoon damage as soon as possible. Noting that it is one of top-priority tasks to be surely carried out by the Party to go among the people to share weal and woe with them and encourage and sincerely help them when they are in troubles and feel difficult, and that the Party Central Committee should always be with them when they are in happy or bad times, he instructed every department of the Party Central Committee to turn out in the rehabilitation of the damaged farmland and crops in South Hwanghae Province.

Looking at officials of the Party Central Committee who worked hard from early in the morning till late at night while having same meals with farmers and sharing the sweets and bitters with them, people keenly felt once again that the WPK is, indeed, a true, motherly party which works for them.

When the COVID-19 made inroads into the country in May last year, the General Secretary, unmindful of his own risk, visited the State Emergency Epidemic Prevention Headquarters and pharmacies in the capital city of Pyongyang to learn in details about epidemic spread situation and take relevant measures. And he made sure that the medicines prepared by his family were sent to needy families.

His devotion inspired the people to turn out in the campaign for exterminating the malignant virus in unity and achieve victory in the anti-epidemic war in a short period of 90-odd days.

That is why the Korean people hold him in the highest esteem as their leader and support him with loyalty.
