Natural Monument—Tree Fossil on Moran Hill.

On Moran Hill in the capital city of Pyongyang is a tree fossil, which is rare to be found around the world.

It is a pine fossil which grew in the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era.

It is 1.6 metres high and 3.4 metres round at the lower part.

It is very hard and its cell structure and growth rings can be clearly seen on its transection.

As it is of great significance in studying geology and palaeontology, the tree fossil is under well preservation as a natural monument.
