National Pencil Drawing and Calligraphy Festival Opens

A national pencil drawing and calligraphy festival opened in the run-up to the Day of the Sun (President Kim Il Sung’s birth anniversary), the greatest national holiday of the country.

Seen in the festival venue is the painting portraying the benevolent images of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il seeing calligraphy of a schoolgirl.

On display there are pencil drawings and calligraphic pieces of various themes, including those dealing with the immortal exploits performed by Kim Il Sung.

Its opening ceremony took place in the Okryu Exhibition House on April 8.

It was attended by Pak Chol Min, chairman of the youth league central committee, Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, officials concerned, creators and working people in Pyongyang.

After the ceremony, the participants looked round the festival venue.

Exhibited there are various themes of pencil drawings and calligraphic pieces that artists, working people, youth and pupils and other children across the country created by depicting excellent compositions and verses with rich lyrics through their splendid brushwork.
