KPA General Hyon Yong Chol, minister of the People’s Armed Forces, made a report at the meeting.

He said:

On July 27, Juche 42 (1953) the army and people of the DPRK defeated the U.S.-led imperialist aggressor forces and won a shining victory in the war under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, a historic event which was of weighty significance in achieving the independent development of the Korean nation and accomplishing the human cause of liberation.

July 27 is the day of the second liberation of the Korean nation and the day of the historic victory which recorded a new chapter for the cause of independence against imperialism.

After igniting the war of aggression against the DPRK, the U.S. imperialists mobilized huge forces, including their aggression forces, armies of their 15 satellite states, south Korean puppet army and Japanese militarists, and war hardware and applied all barbarous methods and means.

The U.S. imperialists made desperate efforts to enslave the whole Korean nation but could not bring the army and people of the DPRK to their knees.

The army and people of the DPRK won the historic victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and honorably defended the independence and sovereignty of the country and the nation and the gains of revolution, thereby earning the fame as the heroic army and people who defeated the U.S. imperialists for the first time in history.

Kim Il Sung successfully applied the Juche-based military idea and theories and war methods founded by him during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and wrought military miracles unprecedented in history in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The world peace-loving people rendered positive support and solidarity and disinterested assistance to the Korean people in their decisive battle for defending the country and waged a dynamic anti-U.S., anti-war struggle, exposing and condemning the bestial atrocities of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces.

The army and people of the DPRK won one victory after another in the building of a thriving nation and socialism, bolstering up the defense capability of the country as firm as a rock and resolutely meeting all challenges of the enemies under the guidance of Kim Il Sung and
leader Kim Jong Il.

A long time has passed since the ceasefire in Korea but the situation is getting tenser due to the vicious moves of the enemies for aggression.

With neither military threat nor war moves can the enemies block the DPRK advancing full of conviction of certain victory, loudly singing the song “July 27 March”, rallied close around the great Songun brilliant commander.

The reporter called for fully displaying the same indomitable spirit and mettle as done by the victors in the great years who marched past the square in fine array, marking the victory in the war, after forcing the enemies to sign the surrender document in the present-day drive for defending the country and building an economic power.
