Majon Recreation Ground, Bathing Resort in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) — The Majon Recreation Ground on the outskirts of Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is now crowded with local and foreign summer visitors every day.

The recreation ground, covering some 400 hectares, is famous for bathing resort. It boasts of fantastic rocks and high and low hills including Mt. Taebawi in its northwest part.

There are also various plants including pine-tree, sweet brier and rose along the seashore.

In particular, its sand beach, 50-100 meters in width and 6 000 meters in length and crystalline seawater add to the beauty of the recreation ground. The water depth of the resort is about 1.5 meters.

The recreation ground includes a public bathing resort, Soho children’s bathing area, schoolchildren’s camp, flower garden, rest home and Majon Hotel.

Majon Hotel, modernly built a few years ago, consists of three buildings and has shower stalls and beach volleyball court along the seashore. The hotel also houses dancing hall, shop, bowling alley, indoor wading pool and other welfare service facilities.

Nowadays the number of foreign tourists is ever increasing in the Majon Recreation Ground splendidly built under the popular policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea. –
