Kim Jong Un Guides Enlarged Meeting of CMC of WPK

An enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) was held under the guidance of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the WPK, chairman of the CMC of the WPK, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army (KPA).

Present there were members of the CMC of the WPK, executive members of the party committee of the KPA and commanding officers of the services and corps-level units of the KPA.

The meeting discussed issues arising in further developing the KPA into the powerful Paektusan revolutionary army faithful to the party, the leader, the country and its people.

It discussed an organizational matter.

Kim Jong Un set forth important tasks for further developing the KPA and ways to do so.

He said it is the requirements of the era and the developing revolution and a basic guarantee for dynamically advancing the Korean revolution to more firmly prepare the KPA politically and ideologically and in military technology.

He stressed the need to enhance the function and role of the political organs of the KPA if it is to preserve the proud history and tradition of being the army of the party, win one victory after another in the confrontation with the U.S. and creditably perform the mission as a shock force and standard-bearer in building a thriving nation.

He noted that the KPA political organs should conduct the political work in a fresh and dynamic manner to ensure that military affairs are successfully carried out as intended by the party.

“It is necessary to focus the party political work, in particular, on rounding off the combat readiness so that all the units and sub-units may make training part of their life and a habit and rule in hearty response to the training-first slogan of the party and thus a strong wind of conducting intensive training just as the anti-Japanese guerrillas did in Mt. Paektu should prevail in the whole army”, he emphasized.
