Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Wonsan Shoe Factory

Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, provided field guidance to the Wonsan Shoe Factory.

He said that leader Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to this factory in February, 2009 to learn in detail about shapes, fashions and weight of the shoes produced by the factory and set forth a task to decisively improve the quality of the products, adding that he came to it to learn how it was being implemented.

He looked round the room dedicated to the history of the factory.

He noted that the factory alone, which was honored with the field guidance given by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, clearly showed how devotedly they worked for the improvement of the people’s standard of living.

Underlining the need to arrange better the room dedicated to the history of the factory to help its employees deeply grasp the undying feats the President and Kim Jong Il performed for the factory, he stressed that it was necessary to direct primary efforts to the ideological education for giving full play to the mental power of the producers in order to keep production going at a high rate and improve the quality of the products.

Going round various places such as a work-team for injection-molded shoes production, instep strap shop and shoemaking shop, he learned in detail about the production at the factory and the quality of products.

Recalling that Kim Jong Il put main emphasis on using locally available raw and other materials for the production of shoes, making them light and modernizing equipment, he called on the officials and employees of the factory to exert greater efforts to carry through the on-spot-instructions given by Kim Jong Il.

Saying that the factory has still a lot of work to do, he gave it instructions to do so.

The Marshal instructed:

“To rapidly develop the light industry including the shoe industry is the important work for improving the people’s material and cultural living standards and demonstrating the advantages and vitality of the socialist system of the country.”

He underlined the need for the factory to wage a dynamic drive to keep its production going at a high rate and boost the production of comfortable, attractive, light and quality shoes fit for various seasons and uses.

He gave the factory an instruction to raise a strong wind for improving the quality of shoes to be favored by people, to be symbolic of it and to be impeccable on foreign markets.

He said:

“To do so, it is necessary to put the production processes on a more modern, scientific and IT basis, set up a strict quality control system and steadily improve the management of the factory.”

Underscoring the need to design well the brand of shoes being produced by the factory, he suggested naming them Maebongsan symbolic of the strong spirit and victory of the service personnel and people of the DPRK.

He instructed officials to pay deep attention to the work for arranging well the work-sites of the factory in a hygienic and cultured way as required by its specific conditions and establishing cultured practice in production and life.

Calling for successfully remodeling the factory in the near future so that it may decisively increase the production of shoes and radically improve their quality and ensure the working conditions and living environment of its workers at the best level, he said that the party would settle all the problems arising in doing so.

He promised to visit the factory again and have a photo taken with its employees when the factory visited by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il will be remodeled as an icon meeting the requirements of the new century and to be impeccable.

He was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So, Ri Jae Il and Han Kwang Sang.
