KFAUSA Report from the November 2022 KFA International Meeting in Tarragona Spain

In November 2022, Comrades Alex Dillard and Joe Morman traveled as delegates of the KFAUSA to the Korean Friendship Association’s (KFA’s) International Meeting in Tarragona, Spain.

The meeting was a two-day event attended by KFA branches and other organizations from several countries around the world.

On the first day, the delegates gave greetings praising the achievements of the Korean people under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong-un. The KFAUSA recognized the DPRK’s improvements in standard of living, far above what would be expected in the midst of an international pandemic, a global economic downturn, and an ongoing onslaught of imperialist aggression and sanctions. It was noted that this standard of living is in contrast to that of many Americans who have neither housing, nor healthcare, nor access to higher education. The delegation also expressed solidarity in standing with the Korean peoples’ struggle for reunification.

On the second day, the attendees were given a tour through the beautiful city of Tarragona, Spain, which has a history that spans millennia. They saw such historic monuments as the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheater near the residence of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, as well as a beautiful cathedral where the people of Tarragona resisted the occupation of the French army under Napoleon.

The 2022 KFA International Meeting was an excellent opportunity for the KFAUSA delegates to meet and make connections with their comrades from overseas. By speaking with them about their experiences with the KFA through the years, we learned much that we have been able to take back with us. This experience strengthened our resolve to revitalize the KFAUSA and build it further to new, greater heights.

The KFAUSA hopes to attend more KFA international meetings in the future, and we are confident that they will be just as, if not even more, valuable to our work for the Korean people.
