The dried flower workshop under the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute developed a technology of making dried pine trees.
Based on its experience that it has produced over 130 pieces of flowering plants and grain crops, the workshop made dried pine trees, the national tree of the DPRK, for decoration of houses and offices.
It established a pre-treatment process of removing terpene and rosin that exert negative influence on the flexibility and colour of leaves and a finishing-treatment process to ensure the freshness of evergreen pine.
It also developed technologies of processing and drying trunks and branches to ensure the formative and artistic features of pine which appeal to the people’s aesthetic tastes.
At present it is making efforts to produce a variety of pine goods by applying dwarf-tree cultivation and landscaping method.
