Cheers for Korea’s Liberation Shake Land and Sky

Long Live Korea´s Liberation!

On August 15, Juche 34 or 1945 the Korean people put an end to more than 40-year-long Japanese imperialist colonial rule and greeted the day of liberation.

The great leader Kim Il Sung, a peerless patriot, defeated the brigandish Japanese imperialists and accomplished the historic cause of national liberation.

In August Juche 34 or 1945 he organized and led the operation of final attack to rout the Japanese imperialists.

Jo Un Ju, lecturer of the Korean Revolution Museum, has this to say:

On August 9, 1945, the great leader Kim Il Sung gave an order to start the operation of final attack for national liberation. On his order, soldiers of the Korean People´s Revolutionary Army started campaign in high spirits. From the first moment they fully displayed unparalleled bravery and self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism.

In a few days the Korean People´s Revolutionary Army liberated the area of northern Korea including the then Rajin and sped up attack.

At last, the Japanese imperialists surrendered on August 15, Juche 34 or 1945.

People were so happy that they shed tears and laughed, chanting; “Long Live General Kim Il Sung!” and “Long Live Independence of Korea!”

Korea´s liberation was a great summing up of the 20-year-long bloody anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle of the great leader Kim Il Sung; it was a settlement of the nationwide heroic resistance conducted by broad anti-Japanese patriotic forces under his leadership for tens of years, at the sacrifice of their lives.

Pyongyang Hails Peerless Patriot

Amid enthusiastic excitement sweeping the whole of Korea, the people looked forward to the triumphal return of General Kim Il Sung, the hero of the nation.

Pyongyang, the home of the leader of the nation, was sleepless even at night, waiting for him. Pyongyang citizens eagerly waited for the peerless patriot General Kim Il Sung who had left his hometown in Juche 14 or 1925 with a firm pledge to liberate the country from the Japanese imperialists. Would he come tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, they counted days on their fingers.

In south Korea, too, people organized a preparatory committee for welcoming General Kim Il Sung and were impatiently waiting for him to return in triumph. The Seoul Railway Station was crowded with tens of thousand citizens who came to greet General Kim Il Sung almost every day.

When the hearts of 30 million people were beating for the moment he would return, Kim Il Sung called a meeting of military and political cadres of the Korean People´s Revolutionary Army on August 20, Juche 34 or 1945, and put forward three tasks of building the party, the state and the army as new strategic tasks. After taking specific measures to carry out the tasks, he set out on the road of historic return home in triumph.

A Pyongyang city mass meeting to welcome him was grandly held in the public playground at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang on October 14, Juche 34 or 1945.

The moment he took the floor, people´s cheers of “Long Live General Kim Il Sung!” and “Long Live Independence of Korea!” shook the whole land. People´s warm passion and cheers were boundless compliments to Kim Il Sung who waged an arduous struggle for the country and fellow countrymen.

Amid stormy cheers of people he took the floor and made a historic speech on his triumphal return. He called upon those with strength to contribute to the sacred patriotic cause with strength, upon those with knowledge with knowledge and those with money with money and upon the whole nation to build a rich independent sovereign state on this land in firm unity. His speech greatly encouraged the people to turn out in nation-building.

The then newspaper  “Pyongyang Minbo”, referring to the scene of the day under the title “Cheers of 400,000 people rock the land of Korea, a brocade of nature”, wrote:

…As soon as General Kim Il Sung, the hero the Korean people most deeply adore and have been looking forward to meeting, appeared at the meeting, a storm of enthusiastic cheers arose and all the assemblage were deeply moved and shed silent tears of joy.

The immortal exploits of the great leader Kim Il Sung for national liberation will shine in the history of the Korean nation forever.
