19th Meeting of Political Bureau of 7th WPK Central Committee Held

The 19th meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea took place at the office building of the WPK Central Committee on October 5.

Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the WPK, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, was present at the meeting.

The meeting was attended by members of the Presidium and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.

Present there also as observers were directors and first deputy directors of departments of the WPK Central Committee.

Upon authorization of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.

The meeting discussed as its first agenda item the issue of successfully greeting the Eighth Congress of the WPK by waging a dynamic 80-day campaign of the entire Party, the whole country and all the people.

A report on the first agenda item was made.

The report referred to the subjective and objective requirements for launching a fresh offensive under the current situation.

Today, all the Party members and other working people are dynamically waging the final all-out campaign to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK as a grand festival of victors.

We are now faced with a weighty yet responsible task to splendidly hold the celebrations for the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK we have prepared with much efforts and greet the Eighth Congress of the WPK to be convened at the outset of the new year with proud labour successes.

We have 80-odd days until the Eighth Congress of the WPK to be etched as an important political event of epochal significance in the development of our Party and revolution.

We have performed historic feats with our costly efforts, boldly overcoming unprecedentedly grave trials and difficulties this year, but we should not rest on our laurels.

We still face the challenges that cannot be overlooked, and there are many goals we have to attain within this year.

It is our Party’s consistent mode of struggle to bring about greater successes and miracles one after another through a determined successive offensive and usher in the phase of a new leap forward in the revolution, and it is our people’s proud tradition of struggle to write a history of great change and work eye-opening miracles by waging an all-out campaign for the grand socialist construction whenever they greet the Party Congress.

The meeting stressed that the remaining days until the Eighth Congress of the WPK is the period of year-end struggle and also the last phase of carrying out the five-year strategy for national economic development put forth at the Seventh Congress of the WPK and, therefore, the entire Party and the whole country should wage another all-out campaign.

The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee made a responsible and crucial decision to wage an 80-day campaign of the entire Party and the whole country by the end of the year in order to glorify the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK as a grand festival of victory and progress, proudly conclude this year’s struggle by raising the soaring spirit to a new high and greet the Eighth Congress of the WPK with high political enthusiasm and labour feats.

The meeting clarified the main purpose of the campaign and the key principles to be maintained and the goals to be attained by every sector during the campaign before studying in depth the detailed orientation and ways to thoroughly implement them.

The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee decided to advance a militant slogan and send a letter of the Party Central Committee to all Party organizations and Party members to encourage the entire Party, the whole country and all the people to turn out in the 80-day campaign.

The meeting, as its second agenda item, made a decision on conferring high military titles on leading officials of the Party and the army on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK.

According to the joint decision of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, the title of Marshal of the Korean People’s Army was conferred on Ri Pyong Chol, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, and Pak Jong Chon, chief of the General Staff of the KPA.

After informing the participants of the joint decision, Kim Jong Un congratulated the recipients, requesting them to live up to the deep trust and expectations of the Party and the people with great successes in their jobs.

The revolutionary measures discussed at the meeting marked an important turning point in accelerating the revolution and construction at a higher stage of development, as required by the prevailing situation.
